Spelonk: what a dive!

January 28, 2014 by Bonaire East Coast Diving

Last week, it has been quiet all week and I was really in the mood to go look for a new dive site. I discussed this with the captain and he said it was wise to dive Spelonk first, so we decided to do that. The sea was not as calm as we expected and …

Very professional diving. We saw about 30 turtles, two spotted stingrays, 4 southern stingrays, 2 large green morays, reef shark and a nurse shark.... Amazing and fun!read more

Excellent safely run operation. Beautiful dive sites and lots of sea life. Dive masters are very observant in seeking out life as well as watching... their dive group. Not a dive for the inexperienced. Good buoyancy control is a must for this dive.read more

Diving the east coast should be a must do for any dive trip to Bonaire. Bob and Martin of Bonaire East Coast Diving managed fantastic dives just... outside of Lac Bay. Large sea life is the main draw. I saw a manta ray, eagle rays, southern stingrays, eels, and too many turtles to count! The only "bad" part of my dives was being so focused on the search for large marine life, I didn't send much time observing the beautiful and vibrant reefs on the east coast!I took two 2-tank dives during my stay on Bonaire. One, one trip wasn't enough. While east coast was relatively calm on my two days of diving, there were some large swells and chop once leaving Lac Bay heading to the dive site. I was in the water within 5 minutes. The dive briefing, gearing up, and interval occurs on the calm Waters of Lac Bay. I think any level of diver who maintains good bouyancy and is confident in their skills would have no issue withe the dives. In my opinion, diving the east coast is a wonderful compliment to diving Klein and the West coast of Bonaire. Bonaire East Coast Diving was well organized and in-control on the surface which made the dives easy and memorable.read more

Martin, Bob and Fred... what can I say, I have been diving Bonaire on 5 previous vacations going back near 30 years. Your outfit is very... professional. Very safety conscious. And your dive briefings go beyond scuba, they are about the science and nature of the environment. Wow! The underwater landscape and sea life is fantastic on the east coast. I know you do not create it but you certainly are all skilled at spotting the big stuff and convey an enthusiasm that is infectious. I will be back. I came on this trip to only dive the east coast and only dive with you. That is my dive plan for the future. Plan your dive, dive your plan. Cheers!read more
