Gijs HoogerkampGijs, Ger, Wietze, Rob, Bas and Hans are happy to take you to the East Coast. They have years of experience on Bonaire as well as on the East Coast and will do their utmost to make your dives both fun and unforgettable!

After many years in the Internetbusiness in Holland, Gijs Hoogerkamp came to Bonaire for a life in a more relaxed manner, thus exchanging the hectic IT-world for the calmth and rest of Bonaire and its surrounding waters. He loves underwaterphotography and learning more about what the ocean has to offer. After diving in Portugal, Mexico, Egypt and the Caribbean he decided to become a dive professional on Bonaire.

Ger BoermeesterIn Holland Ger Boermeester was a police officer. This was a very intense job, so he picked up diving as a hobby to counter balance the stress from his job. About eight years later Ger was an instructor with a lot of dive stories under his weight belt. In 1999 he went to st Eustatius to have a break from his job and lived as a dive instructor. This was so much fun that Ger stopped to be a policeman and now (about ten years later) he still works as a dive professional.

Wietze KoopmanToday is the first day of the rest of your life. That was on his mind when, after 20 years of working in an office as a tax lawyer and later as a manager, Wietze Koopman gave up his marriage, his house, his job and a lot of other so called certainties to start a new life of adventure. He knew that every today carries the possibility to start living your dream. So he travelled the world for 3 years and ended up in the Caribbean to settle down and become a dive professional. After living and working in the Dominican Republic for almost 2 years he came to Bonaire in 2003. It was love at first sight. Bonaire, the Fish capital of the Atlantic, is his home now and will be for a lot of years to come. Quite a few outdoor things to do here: diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, kayaking, he loves it all. He even co-founded an Aero club on Bonaire to get his private pilot license. But that was under influence of Gijs Hoogerkamp and a little bit of beer. He designed and built his own house and now added diving the East Coast as an extra on an already abundantly filled plate.

Rob SchiekeIn October 2009 Rob Schieke joined the BECD team. Rob left his indoor job @ the Amsterdam Cityprinters behind to try and lead a less stressful outdoor life. To be able to do this he turned his 10 year hobby and passion into his profession and became a dive instructor. After instructing and diving the westside of Bonaire for two years, the eastside was beckoning…

Bas Geurts van KesselBas Geurts van Kessel lived in Holland for 26 years and tried a lot of different jobs. Then he decided to take a look across the border. He started in Africa where he travelled trough the south east part of Africa. He liked it so much that he sold everything when he came back to Holland and left to Australia. He's been there for a year and became a diveinstructor when he was working on the Great Barrier reef. When his visa in Australia ran out he spent some months in Switzerland and Germany. But he just couldn't get used to the weather over there and started applying for jobs again and that's how he ended up in Bonaire.

Hans Kragtwijk has been coming to Bonaire since 2004 and it was love at first sight. Great weather and great diving, what more could you want? He started exploring the West side and with WannaDive continued on the East side of the island. What a great experience that was! From that moment, diving the East Coast became his passion. Every year he would return to Bonaire a few times until he finally decided to follow his heart and sell this deli shop. He moved to Bonaire, became a dive instructor and now he's very happy to join the BECD team.
